BMW F-Series S63N MEVD1728 DME Removal Instructions

Necessary preliminary work:

  • Switch off ignition.
  • Disconnect battery negative lead.
  • Remove acoustic cover

 

Bank 1 DME Removal: 

1) Unlock all plugs (1) from control unit and detach. Unclip wiring harnesses from cable clips. Disconnect coolant hoses (2) with disconnection pliers. Release clamps from coolant hoses (2) and pull off coolant hoses from control unit. Replace clamps. Note: Catch and dispose of escaping coolant. 
Pull off control unit (3) from bracket and remove.

Bank 2 DME Removal: 

1) Unlock all plugs (1) from control unit and detach. Unclip wiring harnesses from cable clips. Disconnect coolant hoses (2) with disconnection pliers. Release clamps from coolant hoses (2) and pull off coolant hoses from control unit. Replace clamps. Note: Catch and dispose of escaping coolant.
Pull off control unit (3) from bracket and remove.
